1. Service requests The health inspection must submit: 1.1. for the re-registration of a medical practitioner: the application/form “Application for renewal or renewal of the register” and a copy of the supporting documents relating to the acquisition or development of professional knowledge or skills to be submitted, not earlier than 90 days and not later than 30 days before the end of the registration period: • Physician, dentist, doctor's assistant (feldscher), pharmacist's assistant, radiologist's assistant, biomedical technician, masseur, dentist, physiotherapist, audiologopic, ergotherapist, technical orthopae, optometrista, physiotherapist assistant, nutritionist, dental technician, in the profession of a polydologist, radiographic, art therapist, military paramedicist, beauty specialist (cosmetology), at least 150 academic hours during the period of registration, including the development of professional knowledge in the provision of emergency medical assistance or a copy of the document regarding the successful completion of the professional fitness check in the profession; • in the profession of assistant dentist, nurse, midwife or nursing assistant - at least 100 academic hours during the period of registration, including the development of professional knowledge in the provision of emergency medical assistance or a copy of the document on the successful completion of the professional fitness check in the profession. Information on educational establishments where professional compliance checks can be completed can be read more: https://www.vi.gov.lv/lv/arstniecibas-and-support-person-registracija Military paramedics shall, in addition to the application/form “Application for renewal or renewal of the register”, submit approval of the Joint Headquarters of the National Armed Forces. 1.2. for the re-registration of a medical treatment support person (from 1 January 2022): a submission, in which the given name, surname, identification of the medical treatment support person and the profession, in which the extension of the registration period and the vocational development education certificate regarding the acquisition of a licensed vocational development education programme in matters of patient data protection shall be indicated, at least eight hours (copy), or the original of this document shall be presented. The application shall be submitted not earlier than 90 days and not later than 30 days before the end of the registration period. When appealing to medical practitioners and medical treatment support persons must present a valid personal identification document and present the original documents. 2. Receipt of services The Health Inspectorate shall, within a period of one month after receipt of all the necessary documents, take a decision regarding the registration of a medical practitioner or a medical treatment support person or regarding the refusal to register a medical practitioner or a medical treatment support person, inform the person: 1) the electronic mail address indicated in the application/form “Application for renewal or renewal of the register”; 2) by post to the address indicated in the application/form “Application for renewal or renewal of the register”; 3) in person - in the Health Inspectorate, during the specified working time.

Decisions issued by public authorities in Latvia may be contested in accordance with the Administrative Procedure Law. In accordance with the by-law of the Health Inspectorate, decisions and actual actions of officials of the Health Inspectorate may be contested by submitting a relevant submission to the head of the Health Inspectorate (Clyan Street 7, Riga, LV-1012).
